A Deli Premiere: Dougmore “Outer boroughs” from upcoming LP
From the first pluck of the banjo to the delicate, muted horn arrangement, “Outer Boroughs,” the title track on Dougmore’s debut LP expels warmth with elegant bluegrass and dreamy folk/americana arrangements. On ‘Outerboros,’ Dougmore is self-aware and his lyrics are vivd with a lucidity and assuredness that feels fresh and sincere. The album features 10 tracks that showcase his craft as a composer, songwriter, and vocalist, as well as Dougmore’s instrumental virtuosity, particularly on the banjo. The record is scheduled for a June 2 release. – Geena Kloeppel
New Henry Double Release Available for Streaming & Download
Music from a new band prototypically trickles out a few songs at a time. However, the quintet of Henry, a.k.a. Evan Luther, Jason Baxter, Sean Mckenty, Grey Durham, and Edward Leinheiser, have abandoned the methodical crawl in favor of sprinting out of the gates, issuing a pair of releases Oui Ja Yes! and Is Paris Burning?. The band exhibits a knack for creating mellowing melodies within an experimental trajectory that are capable of shifting into an aggressive gear.

PREMIERE: Barra Brown – “Poem No. 8: The Thread (feat. Gregory Uhlmann)”
Conceptually speaking, the basis of Barra Brown‘s Poem Project is something to pay much attention to. Coming out on Cavity Search next month, Poem Project takes Barra Brown’s single "Poem" and sees it interpreted by eight different musicians from across the country. From members of groups like Ages and Ages, The Shins and Radiation City among others, Poem Project‘s participating artists breathe new life into an already amazing song.
Under a set of specific parameters, each artist was allowed to play with the original structure of the song while providing their own lyrics as part of the transformation. The one of particular focus today is from Los Angeles folk musician Gregory Uhlmann, who produced the softly intimate folk of "Poem No. 8: The Thread." Uhlmann’s orchestration has made for a beautifully minimal track, led by rich vocals and slow, warm instrumentation.
Listen to "Poem No. 8: The Thread" below and be on the lookout for Poem Project‘s release April 7.
