The Unending Thread releases new video, flexes for AMP vs. AMP Deathmatch 2/04

Posted on:

SFV’s raw modal-soul polymaths The Unending Thread have released a video to "La Casa De Mi Padre", the second song to their split EP with Forget It — which is out and free to stream, by the way. Cooped up at the Henhouse Studio (confimed that Julian Tallman-Rogatini raises chickens), the trio delve into lyrical self-actualization and drool-worthy double-tapping that splashes near-obscene amounts of color over the grisaille landscape of the forseeable future.

"I know I don’t know anything | And that’s the best part of this journey that hasn’t happened yet"

Like, if someone were to make a Youtube AMV for Over The Garden Wall, it would be criminal not to use this song.

On a more serious note, The Unending Thread faces off with Forget It at The Smell on February 4th’s "AMP vs. AMP Deathmatch" where the two bands will celebrate the Los Angeles release of their split EP by performing songs and piledrivers on each other. The trash talk surrounding Dustin and the Explosions, Haricort Vertt (fka Josh Abrahms), Love Nothing and Ferbus also comes to a head — there will be blood, or at least some drawn-out carnage. Expect an obscene amount of chairs, tables, ladders, and maybe even a kendo stick to be pulled from under the stage. – Ryan Mo

Slanted has angst to spare on “Desire for Lust”

Posted on:

Desire for Lust is the soundtrack for a night alone in your bedroom when it all hits you. It’s the music that kicks in after a slammed door and holds your hand while you walk home in the rain. There’s a sense of catharsis here, but Slanted is anything but enchanted. As the title suggests, there’s a sense of longing that carries this EP. Not even a longing, but a longing for a longing, a want to want, an unfulfilled wish to look forward to something.

Fortunately for the rest of us, the age of instant gratification means you won’t be stuck longing helplessly for this record, which is embedded below. -Austin Phy

The Deli Philly’s Featured Artist(s) Poll Winner: The Mysteries

Posted on:
The roots of Philly’s indie music scene have always been influenced by psych-pop/rock outfits like Mazarin, Dr. Dog, and The War on Drugs. So it should be no surprise that you’ll find a group such as The Mysteries atop our Featured Artist(s) Poll. Started by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Anthony Marchione (and a kiss), you’ll find the band channeling The Doors as well as more contemporary torchbearers of the beloved genres. The local quartet is set to crack open the festivities for this Saturday’s Queen of Jeans’s record release celebration with Louie Louie at Kung Fu Necktie, but first – unlock more of the mysteries of The Mysteries in our interview with Marchione HERE.

Early last year, we were enchanted with singer-songwriter vōx and her noteworthy single "Money". As we await for more new music this year, the art pop project of Sarah Winters is making the sporadic appearance to remind us of her mesmeric live performances. Winters will be sharing a bill at the Bootleg this next Monday, February 1st alongside AKW and Lena Fayre.

Listen to "Get Down", which she just released this past month via her official soundcloud page.
