Just a quick head’s up, today is the release date of ELEL‘s self-titled debut EP. Nashville is clearly endeared by the 8-piece world-jams-meet-indie-pop extravaganza, considering that they won our overall poll for Best Emerging Artist of 2014. Ben Elkins and the crew’s first effort has found a home with Mom+Pop Records alongside the likes of Andrew Bird, Cloud Nothings, and Wild Cub. Check it out HERE. ELEL is stopping in Nashville in the middle of their spring tour for an EP release show at The Stone Fox. Get your tickets early, as the show has a good chance of selling out! –Terra James-Jura
Avers new video for “Evil”
Avers has released a new video via Nylon for "Evil," off their debut album Empty Light. It’s a sinsiter track, full of hooks, with distorted vocals hovering above pounding drums, a driving bass, and screaming guitars. Like all of Empty Light, it’s all analog and masterfully produced. The video is a crazy Carnivalesque basement party, drowned in drugs, and not everyone is having the best of times.
Avers is back on tour this month, heading down through the southeast before taking a right towards SXSW. You can catch them tonight in DC at Black Cat Backstage with Nashville’s ELEL to wiish them luck. –Natan Press

The Rotaries premiere single “On the Outs” from upcoming EP
Those of you who feel nostalgia for the years when NYC’s rock was wearing leather jackets and wooing ears with simple melodies full of attitude should check out The Rotaries, a band that not accidentally calls New York home – not Brooklyn. Active since the beginning of the new decade, the trio has a 2012 full length and a few singles under their belt, and is about to release a new EP entitled "On the Outs" – from which we are premiering the title track, streaming below. The EP will be released on March 10 – stay tuned for live show announcements.
New Music Video: “Mongo (Indian Jewelry Remix)” – Aunt Dracula
Weirdo psych-pop project Aunt Dracula, a.k.a. Scott Daly, is nearing the completion of his remix album Peel Face, where you’ll find reimagined versions of his tracks (from the record Face Peel) by Pictureplane, Prince Rama, Eric Copeland from Black Dice, and many others. Below is the Indian Jewelry remix of "Mongo." It also comes with a Looney Tunes music video that was directed by Daly.
LADY releases new single “Creatures of the Night”
The early 90’s dreampop/shoegaze movement created a style of music that continues to spawn new bands seemingly on a daily basis. The latest entry into this field is New York’s LADY (featuring Deli contributor JP Basileo among its members), who have recently released a single to their upcoming “Washer EP.” “Creatures of the Night” (streaming) captures and reinterprets the combined noisy-yet-pop sound that Mark Gardener and Loz Colbert so masterfully employed with their iconic band Ride. Adding layers of fuzzy guitars and emphatic snare/cymbal crashes, the band creates dramatic peaks as the song progresses, while the extended guitar solo at the end reminds us why classic shoegazer track “Like A Daydream” was so appealing in the first place. With influential bands of this era like The Jesus & Mary Chain and the aforementioned Ride currently on tour, the niche LADY occupies has never been stronger. – Dave Cromwell
Embrace the Fuzz w/Tangiers at Petting Zoo March 3
Fuzzed-out, lo-fi melodic rockers Tangiers perform tonight at the Petting Zoo. The quartet brings a decidedly up-tempo, percussion-driven sound with vocals delivered through a cosmic membrane and instrumentation that retains unapologetic dirt-under-the-fingernails authenticity, taking the time to methodically develop a punchy groove before zooming off into space. While you’re out there, you might as well catch the eclectic psych-garage escapades of Time Hitler and the Assholes From Space, because that crew is prepared to push whatever buttons will get the job done along its twisted trek. The lineup is rounded out by a pair of trios – local psych-punk combo Seismic Thrust and the foot-to-the-floor, face-smacking garage rock of Georgia’s Concord America. The Petting Zoo (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 8pm, $5, All Ages – Michael Colavita
New Track: “Shaking Air” – The Ambulars
While The Ambulars sadly announced an indefinite hiatus back in September, they recently left a parting gift. A kind of new song, “Shaking Air,” is a polished up old demo that was retouched over the weekend. The track hovers that fine threshold between ragged energy with a catchy melodic rock feel as it jumps through the highs and lows.
Cool Ghouls O and Sugar Candy Mountain Perform at The Chapel – 3/4
San Francisco based Beatles-esqe indie rock band, Cool Ghouls are playing their last show in San Francisco before they embark on an extensive month long national tour. After last year’s release of their current LP, A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye this crowd favorite of a band will be gracing The Chapel with their presence on March 4th along with San Francisco’s folktastic rock band, Sugar Candy Mountain and O, the band formally know as Black Cobra Vipers.
You may not be able to see Cool Ghouls play another local show for a while, so don’t sleep on this opportunity to see them perform!
Congratulations to Howling Giant, Our New Artist of the Month!
Howling Giant swept our most recent Artist of the Month poll, emerging easy victors with 59% of the vote. Of course, they had a bunch of newly converted fans to rally support from, thanks their new EP released just this January. Who could not like a band that "plays self-indulgent, drop-tuned, fuzzed out riffs that could curdle milk?" Check out the epic "Whale Lord" to hear what they’re talking about. –Terra James-Jura
