Show Alert: Bootleg Glory CD Release Show at the Basement 10.25

Posted on:

This is going to be one hell of a night, and proof that South is just a state of being. Canadian refugees Bootleg Glory released their album "Buddy" on October 21st, and has been building up to tomorrow’s show at the Basement by releasing a video for each day between point A and B. If you like your musicians fast, furious and showing a more leg than social mores dictate, (as demonstrated by video #2, "Build a State") these guys are for you. Their album release show tomorrow features Thelma and the Sleaze, Beef Oven, and Ben Spinks Supermelt, and is sure to lead to at least one misplaced pair of panties. So bring extra just in case. Show starts at 9, cover is $5. -Terra James-Jura

Weekend Warrior, October 24 – 26

Posted on:

So the most important thing to know for this weekend is that The Deli Philly will be celebrating its 6th Anniversary/Halloween Party on Saturday, October 25 at PhilaMOCA. We’re excited to be returning to one of our favorite spaces in Philly with a co-headlining bill where you’ll find the likes of a true rising star in the local hip-hop community and obvouisly one of our favorites, S.T.S., a.k.a. Sugar Tongue Slim, who will be joined by the nasty beats and mind-warping sounds of our old friends, Grimace Federation. It’s definitely going be a rad night of music in the ole mausoleum! And don’t forget your costume because it’s also our Halloween bash, and we didn’t forget the drinks. We’d like to thank the good folks at Sixpoint Brewery, Star Hill Brewery, Balantine IPA, Narragansett, and La Colombe (Different Drum Pennsylvania Rum & cold-brew Pure Black) for sponsoring the fun. I think that you can tell where we’ll be taking things. Come join the debauchery! PhilaMOCA, 531 N. 12th St., 8pm, $10, All Ages – Q.D. Tran

Shaking Hands- 10/25 @ Cameron House

Posted on:

Shaking Hands is mangy feel good rockin’ roll! They have an eclectic sound! It’s a wondrous fusion of garage rock & beach pop, a modern day 1960’s Frankie and Annette beach party! Check out ‘Sarah‘ off latest self titled record. The vocal is so unique, its almost like singing down a giant tunnel. The guitars on this track totally got me, the riff is so colorful and joyous, really celebrating a mood. The entire track sounds so BIG, I am so in love! See them Saturday 10/25 @ the Cameron House, be there before 10pm. It’s gonna be a killer party!

Hurry Record Release Show at FUC Oct. 24

Posted on:

Hurry to First Unitarian Church this evening. Matt Scottoline (of Everyone Everywhere) bookended by Joe (Psychic Teens) and Rob (ex-Univox) DeCarolis, a.k.a. the band Hurry, are celebrating the release of their new LP Everything/Nothing via Hot Green Records. The album injects bright, punchy rockers approached from an intimate point of view; balancing infectious songs with a strong instrumental backbone, Hurry’s blend of personal exuberance is an excellent way to jumpstart your weekend. Tonight, they will be joined by the tight-sounding, pop-punk-inflected Algernon Cadwallader offshoot, Dogs on Acid. An additional twist thrown into the mix is that Bleeding Rainbow will be performing in a throwback two-piece setup, which we hear might be be a more common occurrence with the departure of guitarist Al Creedon and drummer Ashley Arnwine. The unabashed, attitude-expressive rock of The Cats opens the celebration. First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St., 8pm, $8, All Ages (Photo by Ally Newbold) – Michael Colavita

Hundred Visions release new LP next week

Posted on:

Garage rock should feel effortless. Guitar, drums and bass…that’s all you need. Ben Maddox, Wes Turner and Johnny Krueger of Hundred Visions get that simplicity is key. Their new track, “You’re Gonna Cut Me Loose,” has the indie-psych rock elements down. The scruffy guitars, distorted vocals and punk rock drum beat are enough to get you amped for their sophomore release. Thier new LP “SPITE” is out Oct. 28 via Pau Wau Records. Check them out this Saturday at Hotel Vegas. -Allison Mayoral

Too bad for you if you missed our tense Indie/Psych/Electro CMJ show at Pianos with The Deli’s 40th issue’s cover band Sunflower Bean, Shilpa Ray, Japanese phenomenon Bo Ningen, electro crooners MOTHXR and many other awesome bands. By the way, we all like to have our choices validated, and the Brooklyn trio got some serious love from NPR, check it out. Here’s the video of our favorite song (at least among the few ones they have recorded) ‘2013.’
