Below is the second single from Bondage & Discipline called "Confession," which you can stream and download below. The former guys and gal of The National Rifle continue in the direction that they began to follow towards the end of their previous recording catalogue, as shimmering synths and emotive vocals wash over the octane-fueled jams of yesteryear. Their latest track was recorded at South Philly’s Cambridge Sound Studios with producer, Todd Mecaughey. The group’s debut album is expected to be release in the spring of 2015.
Song Premiere: Dohse, “Fireworks and Lead”
Dohse, aka Nathan James Dohse is in the thick of becoming a Nashville success story. Arriving here from Flagstaff, AZ after a decade with pop-meets-dance-party outfit Fight the Quiet, and seeking a new direction for his craft, Dohse began making music under his own name. What he creates is a an alternative-leaning take on Americana, with a focus on writing a good flippin’ song above all else. His newest track, "Fireworks and Lead," is so solid that if it were stripped down, passed around and spun on a country station, it would probably be a hit, because good music can cross genres with no border issues. This is the second single from his upcoming debut EP "Old Roads," which is scheduled for release on Sept. 9th. His album release show will be this Wednesday, August 13th at the East Room. With The Problems and Kristen Cothron & the Darkside rounding out the bill and cover at only $5, there is ample reason to get out on a Wednesday night. -Terra James-Jura
Sorority Noise to bring the commotion to Amherst
Riding on the release of May’s Forgettable LP, Hartford’s Sorority Noise is heading to Amherst, MA, next Monday, August 18. Fitting to its name, the band’s lyrics span the insecurities of college life – take, for example, “When we broke up you told me to try and find myself … so I found myself in someone else’s bed,” from “Dirty Ickes” – but the band’s groovy punk inspires one to dance through the darkness rather than sulk alone. Check out Sorority Noise in Massachusetts’ most famous college town alongside Three Man Cannon, Sexy Girls, The Hundred Acre Woods and Amherst folk-punks Dérive at Amherst’s Unitarian Meeting House at 7 p.m. on August 18. – Jake Reed (@jakejreed)
Watch Dances’ Surreal Video for Their Song, “Doc Youth”
There’s something really quite special about the fuzz rock that comes from the minds of 60’s psychedelia-influenced artists like Ty Segall, The Orwells, The Black Lips. Here’s one more for you, straight out of Brooklyn: Dances is a three piece that just put out an EP, Whiter Sands, featuring four glorious songs worth of gut busting, psych-rock fuzz-jams. Specifically telling of the band’s style is the quite surreal video they just released for their song, "Doc Youth." The song features a guy being followed around by another guy toting a rifle and garbed solely in tight whities and a freaky looking mask. It’s definitely one for the books. Peep the video below. – Jake Saunders
Rivergazer releases debut LP ‘Random Nostalgia’ at Shea Stadium on 08.21
Tomorrow, August 12th, Father/Daughter Records will officially release Rivergazer’s first full-length album, “Random Nostalgia.” Rivergazer is the moniker of songwriter Kevin Farrant (also guitarist in Porches), who enlisted producer Hunter Davidsohn and musician Kolson Pickard to craft a sound worthy of road tripping and soul searching. Farrant couldn’t have thought of a more fitting title for the collection; while he rarely offers up names of people or places he sings about, he surely lets their presence overwhelm the listener through his suggestive lyrics. The album is dreamy at heart, but Kevin’s earthy vocals, his heartbreaking lyrical imagery and the songs’ recurring twangyness veer it towards a decidedly alt folk direction. Listen to our favorite piece “Lonely” and be sure to catch the release next week. – Jillian Dooley

“Back In Five” Music Video
Noleac Yahsin’s recently released music video, “Back In Five”, utilizes simplistic yet clever videography directed by Devyn Young and Alvin Daughtrey to complement Noleac Yahson’s incredibly diverse sound. Beautiful vocals compliment the beat as she manages to blend rock, hip hop, R&B, trance and pop into a tightly wound electronica brand package.

Night Kitchen Releases New Album
Night Kitchen’s Thai Iced Tea 7” is a refreshingly original two-song album. Repetitive psychedelic guitar refrains and riffs will put you in a trance, as the percussion carries you throughout the song. The minimalistic vocals, occasional synth mixed into the drums, bass and electric guitar are imaginative and energizing.
You can find Night Kitchen on Facebook and BandCamp.

Glass Ghost shares single ‘Triangle’ from upcoming LP ‘LYFE’
Featured as a duo on the cover of the 21st issue of The Deli back in 2009, Brooklyn Glass Ghost is about to release their sophomore album ‘LYFE’ in September. This is a luxurious and mellow pop record full of orchestral instruments and electronic textures, and features a rotating cast of noteworthy NYC musicians, from Dirty Projector’s Nat Baldwin and Mike Johnson, to Joan Wasser of Joan As Police Woman and Brian Betancourt of Hospitality, to name a few. Brainchild of keyboardist/songwriter Eliot Krimsky and his peculiar alto, the band seems to be doing well as far as the quality of their fan base is concerned (Sharon Van Etten said Eliot is one of her favorite songwriters), but can otherwise be called one of Brooklyn’s best kept secrets. Stream below their beautifully lazy latest single ‘Triangle.’
