The Spectacular Summer Spectacle at Exit/In 7.3
The Spectacular Summer Spectacle is happening in Nashville on Fourth of July Eve, or, if you want to be normal about it, July 3rd. As much of a toungue-twister it is to say, it will be a night of easy listening and a good time. The bands playing are The Heavy Heavy Hearts, Guthrie Brown and the Family Tree, Hot Mess Loves You, and 2013 Deli Nashville Reader’s Choice winners The Daily Howl. We had a hard time picking out a track that says "fireworks" until we heard "Lock Down a Lover" by The Heavy Heavy Hearts. This night of Nashville fun will be at the Exit/In this Thursday at 8pm. Cover is 5 dollars and there will be a door prize to the biggest beach bum. So, of course, wear your beach clothes out! –Amanda Aydelott

The Colorines unveil new video for “Pseudocide” + play Glasslands on 07.18
Despite their vibrant name, and the fact that thier new single ‘Pseudocide’ sways like one who has overdosed on cherryade and blue smarties, NYC’s The Colorines can be dark – although in quirky ways. ‘Everybody said I was gay, and everyone thinks I’m retarded’ they croon, telling a tale full of glorious gallows humour at the freedom that might come from faking your own death. With a merry-go-round lucky bounce to it, the track bounds along, meditatively looping with a circus style psychedelic feel that would have made John Lennon (circa 1967) very happy indeed. Luminous acoustic guitars and smokey melodica arpeggios, a fluffy tickling drum beat, and a weary vocal comprise the arsenal of intoxicating sounds that Robosco, Dwreck, Ozkr and Grim, who formed earlier this year, demonstrated on their recent ‘Paleontology‘ EP. ‘Pseudocide’ continues on the same trajectory. Fans of foxes should look away now. See them live at Glasslands on July 18. – Francesca Baker
THE DELI NYC’S TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY ISSUE IS OUT!
On a Friday night of December 2004, at Manhattan venue Sin-e’ in Attorney Street, an emerging NYC band with a home recorded debut album played The Deli‘s launch party. It was a packed crowd and everyone was holding the first issue of The Deli, whose cover these upstarts were gracing. That band was Grizzly Bear. It remains one of the most exciting nights of my life, the night I understood that this magazine had a shot at being here to stay.
Now, this ten-year anniversary issue hopes to be a(nother) celebration of this great scene, in a less cluttered, more narratorial and visually appealing form thanks to art critic Brian Chidester’s work as a guest editor. This issue also comes with my deep hope for NYC to keep churning out exceptional music of all kinds for the foreseeable future.
FIND THE PAPER ISSUE OF THE DELI IN MANHATTAN AND BROOKLYN, READ IT IN PDF HERE, OR BUY IT HERE FOR JUST $5.

No Lands’ streams first single ‘City’ + announces debut LP ‘Negative Space’
"City", the first single off No Lands‘ upcoming debut, ‘Negative Space,’ is a sprawling landscape of buttery synthesized goodness. Opening into a flurry of smooth ambient textures, layers upon layers of motifs and pulsations begin to materialize, and much like the title of the LP presumes, it’s what comes between the pulsations that stand out. Everything in this song is moving backwards and forwards, left and right, turning into what ends up feeling like a heavy cross between the musical terrain of M83 with the vocals of My Bloody Valentine. Join No Lands for the album release show at Baby’s Alright on August 24th. ‘Negative Space’ is out on July 29th. – Jake Saunders

New Music Video: “Everyone” – Mike Bell & the Movies
Power-pop outfit Mike Bell & the Movies premiered a new music video yesterday for the track "Everyone," off Nothing Works (Major Bear Records), over at The A.V. Club. In it, you’ll find frontman Mike Bell strapped to a chair and on the wrong end of a barrage of punches and slaps, which is pretty awesome and ballsy. Talk about making sacrifices for your art. "There will be blood!" Enjoy!
New Video: “LUST” (Live) – Psychic Teens
FUE
Fue released their new album Gray Matters last week. The band’s sound hinges on the pop side of rock and overall is very catchy.
You can catch Fue at Fresh Fire Room in Aurora on July 6th with Rhett Walker Band and at Culture Shock in Aurora on July 7th.
New Music Video: “Gully” – Spank Rock
We can’t stop watching this new music video from Spank Rock for his bass-heavy, car-rattling banger "Gully," a collaborative single with Kid Kamillion and Boys Noize. The video plays out more like an excerpt from a gritty Vice documentary, providing us a glimpse into the seedier side of New York that is rarely captured. It was wonderfully directed by NYC street photographer Sean Maung.
