Oh, where to start with Natural Child. The hard information: they just released their latest album, “Dancing With Wolves” on February 25th. They’re set to tour with The Black Lips in April, and will be playing Hotel Vegas in Austin for SXSW March 12th and 16th. The intangibles: the core trio of Natural Child, Wes Traylor, Zach Martin, and Seth Murray are probably some of the toughest, truest and hardest working artists on the scene. Since their inception, members have been added to create a 70’s style family band, and their raw, rowdy energy has wildly benefitted with each additional ruffian. “Out in the Country” demonstrates their expanded sound, and how bringing in a pedal steel player is very rarely a bad idea. Take any opportunity afforded to catch an earful of Natural Child’s hell-raising garage rock live. Just don’t bring your kids. They’ll have too many of questions you won’t want to answer. –Terra James-Jura
The Apache Relay to Release Album 4.22.14
The Apache Relay is currently touring as an unofficial Americana Rock Brigade with fellow Nashvillians Promised Land Sound and The Lonely Wild. They hit Austin this week for SXSW as part of a run out West, then stick around Nashville for the release their new album on April 22nd. There’s a strong dose of Motown in the instrumentation on their brand new single “Katie Queen of Tennessee," and this boundary-pushing makes it far too easy to fall hard for the indie root nomads. And if your name happens to be Katie, well, good night. The song is available for immediate download if you pre-order the album. –Terra James-Jura
Shannon and the Clams Mane and Marriage + Cancer Play The Knockout TONIGHT
Shannon and the Clams will be sharing a bill with Mane and Marriage + Cancer at the Knockout in San Francisco. Opening the show is Mane, an all-girl band from San Francisco. Drawing from ’80s goth and post-punk, they have cornered the market for music that is "garnet meets violet meets meatlocker."
Marriage + Cancer is a band based out of Portland, Oregon. Playing a brand of music called "pissed pop" with reverb-filled vocals and almost surf rock guitar licks, the band is not be missed as they make rounds all the way from the Northwest. Throughout their career spanning multiple albums, Shannon and the Clams have demonstrated their love for all things ’60s. Whether they be under the influence of ’60s pop, surf rock, or R&B one thing is for sure – they put on a hell of a show. –Erin Dage

Rush Midnight Releases Sexy Video for New Single, Plays Glasslands Tonight
It’s about time someone realized how sexy bubbles can be. Rush Midnight’s video for latest single ‘In Your Room’ pairs sexy ladies with Brooklyn synth-pop crooner Russ Manning for a very special bubble bath. It’s one of his smoothest songs yet (as former bass player for Twin Shadow, he should know a thing or too about smooth pop jams), and should get you hyped for his upcoming self-title debut, due out May 27th. See him when he plays tonight at Glasslands Gallery for more of his special kind of late-night sexy charm, and watch the new video below. Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)
Wooden Indian Burial Ground at Mississippi Studios 3.13.2014
Wooden Indian Burial Ground has gained a following in the last few years, playing a million shows (including The Deli’s CMJ showcase in NYC) and signing with Mon Amie records. Each player in the trio gets lost in their own instrumental force-fields, and still the music rises and falls together into a hypnotic rabbit hole of lo-fi psych-rock. Their new Problems EP has a tighter, quickened pace since their 2012 self titled; seamless rhythms, vocal harmonies, and well-placed feedback rule over spacey notes. It’s more of a wild garage style with an underlying mind-fuck wave that leaves you kind of dizzy. If you haven’t experienced the live performance, get thee to Mississippi Studios on 3-13.

New Track: “Eliminator” – Ruby The Hatchet
Below is a new seductive nine-minute-plus rocker called "Eliminator" from stoner metal outfit Ruby The Hatchet. The track can be found on the band’s latest EP The Eliminator, which will also be available on limited-edition vinyl and casstte. Ruby The Hatchet will be down in Austin this week in support of the new release. Enjoy!
New Music Video: “Admit It” – Far-Out Fangtooth
So this new Far-Out Fangtooth music video is an absolute mindfuck. It’s pretty much the worst acid trip ever, but in the hands of the gothic psych-punks, you know that they are deriving great pleasure from matching "Admit It," off their latest LP Borrowed Time (Siltbreeze), with the cinematic madness. Once again, Far-Out Fangtooth will be one of the many fine acts that Philly will be contributing to SXSW this year.
Dinner and a Suit Release Video “Where We Started”
Try as I might, I could not stop the video for “Where We Started” from kicking my heart cockles. I was good until the last 30 seconds before the assault of flannel, Polaroids and cornfields in autumn had me doubled over. Dinner and a Suit offers universally appealing, piano driven pop rock that is completely capable of dominating the Top 40 stations. For now they are putting plenty of miles on their van Caroline as they tour their dapper little hearts out. They’ll be making a SXSW appearance at Headhunter’s Patio on March 11th. –Terra James-Jura
