SWF will perform Wednesday, November 13th at Shea Stadium (with Deleted Scenes & Unicycle Loves You) in support of his debut album, "Let It Be Told" out on Mecca Lecca earlier this fall. SWF is short for Stevie Weinstein-Foner. The self-described "lo-fi mystic of Brooklyn" sounds as if someone gave Phil Spector a fuzz pedal and a copy of Jane’s Addiction’s "Nothing’s Shocking" during his peak "wall-of-sound" days. Ranging from slow-surf to alt-country, the one binding force on this record is Stevie’s passionate melodies drenched in reverb and an ever present distorted acoustic guitar. Top tracks: Black & Golden, Turtle Brain (streaming). @samkogon

Willow Previews New EP To Be Released Next Month
Things get weird on “Fixtures,” a song released to Bandcamp last month by Providence band Willow.
Vocals fade in and out, muffled beneath the layered guitars that often pivot from left to right ear bud. The song previews “Slumlord,” the follow-up to “The Roanoke EP,” released last year. From the yuletide bells on “Dakota” and “Iowa” to the handclaps on “Colorado,” there are enough surprises to keep the EP from getting boring, not to mention the mixed bag of guitar tones used throughout its six tracks.
Look for the three-song “Slumlord” EP to be released in full to Bandcamp on December 1 – Jake Reed
NYC punks Cerebral Ballzy release new track and tour the UK
80s punk rock is alive! Brooklyn-based Cerebral Ballzy are bringing their underground vibe to the mainstage, especially now after signing to Cult Records at the hand of The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. The raw sound of their 2011 debut LP got them a lot of attention, and their recent signing and release of single “Better In Leather,” complete with fuzzed-up guitars, the raspy vocals of frontman Honor Titus, and the energy of a rabid wolverine, secures their spot as a major player in the current punk scene. The band will be touring the UK in the second half of November, listen to the ballsy track below via Soundcloud. – Michael Haskoor (@Tweetskoor)
Blues Rock duo Slim Wray releases debut album on 11.02, plays Bowery Electric on 11.20
Celebrating the release of their debut album “Sack Lunch” on November 12, Brooklyn’s Slim Wray is the latest entry in the burgeoning NYC blues rock genre. The duo of Ryan Houser (guitar/vocals) and Chris Moran (drums/backing vocals) play a stripped down hybrid of aggressive blues that combines punk, pop and garage thrash into a larger than sum-of-its-parts sound. “I Gotta Girl (With A List Of Needs)” hearkens back to early-era White Stripes, alternating hyper-passionate verses with muscular instrumental breaks. “Reaction” tips in a more pop direction by way of a traditional chord progression and harmony background vocals. “Bear” (streaming below, video here) is built around a “whooo hooo” vocal hook, while stretching out over chunky chords and thrashed cymbals. “House Of D” comes by way of acoustic guitar with vocals delivered in a conversational style that shares similarities with fellow new-blues Brooklynites The Dough Rollers. 12 solid tracks in all, the album includes a cover as well, with a delightfully faithful rendition of the Van Morrison (and re-interpreted by Patti Smith) classic “G L O R I A.” See them live at The Bowery Electric on November 20. – Dave Cromwell
Arc In Round Popping Up at Silk City Nov. 11
If you’re a fan of Arc In Round, then I’d suggest for you to swing by Silk City tonight because you never know when they’ll be popping up again with members of the local kraut-gaze crew keeping busy on other projects. Frontman Jeff Zeigler is always manning the boards at his Eraserhood studio, Uniform Recording, and his ambient improvisational noise project with harpist Mary Lattimore continues to increase the duo’s notoriety in the avant-garde music world. Bassist Josh Meakim has been recently fronting a new band of his own, The Fantastic Imagination, and he should be busy touching the shores of foreign lands next year when A Sunny Day in Glasgow release their next album. He also spends his spare time recording local up-and-coming acts. Mikele Edwards has been working on solo recordings of her own. And former drummer Matt Ricchini is currently travelling the world doing sound for Baroness. I hear that the group will set up like a synth army so expect something different this evening when they are joined by Chicago’s Mako Sica, Proexhibitors, Ron Tubman and DJ Joe Patitucci (a.k.a. Tadoma). Silk City, 435 Spring Garden St., 8pm, $8, 21+ – H.M. Kauffman

From The Deli NYC’s submissions: Modern Diet
Add Modern Diet to your collection of well-named bands. There’s a number of ways to listen to this group, and all of them result in well-balanced aural meals. On the one, they are what happens to rock n’ roll when it cross-pollinates with R&B. Sort of like The Dismemberment Plan if they went to more Phish concerts. But it’s also a confessional of the most intimate order, cutting deep to the bone of what singer Jake Cheriff is concerned with. From the state of his bedroom (‘Modern Diet’), to getting unexpectedly lost (‘Lazy Beat’), their record ‘Commuter EP’ shows you all sides of this diverse three piece, from pain to joy, to fret-tapping guitar solos.
See it all come together when they play at Muchmores on December 6th. – Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets).

Farewell Flight “The Places We’ll Go”
Farewell Flight have been knocking around the country since 2007. They’ve connected to crowds over the impressive course of 700 shows through their approachable, pop-rock. In the spirit of "go big or go back to Penslyvannia," they’ve moved their operation to Nashville from Harrisburg, PA and are toiling away at their potential hit record. “The Places We’ll Go” is the first single off of the album. It has every element of becoming the anthem of bright young graduates this spring short of name-checking Dr. Seuss. –Terra James-Jura
