Dads tour + play Death By Audio on 7.20

Posted on:

The Indie Emo/Punk duo from New Brunswick, NJ known as Dads proves that you don’t always need a full band to support the type of high-energy and passionate material that will keep fans coming back for more. Formed only in 2010, their casual blend of melody and complex guitar work make them an emerging artist to keep an eye on. They are due to release an EP titled “Pretty Good” very soon via 6131 Records and you can listen to their debut LP titled “American Radass (this is important)” via Bandcamp. Coming off of an extensive U.S. Tour, the band is set to play Brooklyn’s Death By Audio on 7/20 with The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die. – Michael Haskoor (@Tweetskoor)

Otto Rollo (aka David Seeber) is a local producer that you need to know. Back in April Seeber released a wonderful split cassette tape via the Moscow label Singapore Sling Tapes with Fé Mora. Seeber’s contribution is an education on sampling in 2013 grabbing bits and pieces from an array of sources including Aphex Twin to Miles Davis.

Seeber released a new track this week called "And Tomorrow" which features a contribution from Nathan Rich (aka Lately Kind of Yeah) and samples of tracks by Pregnant.

Slumberland Records Artist Terry Malts Release New Single and Announces New Album

Posted on:

San Francisco based fuzz post punk band, Terry Malts has released an awesome sounding new single entitled, I Was Not There. This seemingly mysterious band does a great job of letting their music speak volumes for them as I Was Not There is a well produced punk track that needs no introduction or explanation. We love clear cut great sounding punk music here at The Deli and Terry Malts delivers.

The band has also announced the release date of their upcoming second full length album, Nobody Realizes This is Nowhere, which is due out on September 10, 2013 through Slumberland Records. Make sure you get your hands on a copy.

Stream: Dream Boys “Born Yesterday”

Posted on:

Dream Boys sure know their way around a memorable hook. The shmmering reverie of "Born Yesterday" is surely borne from the jangly templete pioneered by the Byrds, capturing a wistful mood that’s all the more potent with its mid-tempo thrust. The single demonstrates a stylistic simplicity that recalls the work of legendary producer Mitch Easter sans the guitar crunch of his power-pop heyday, opting to instead push forward a curl of ringing guitar lines and misty-eyed melodicism that perfectly evokes a warm, interminable summer day. It comes from their upcoming self-titled debut, which will be released via Art Fag in September.

R5’s Free Concert Series w/Mischief Brew & The Bad Doctors at Morgan’s Pier July 17

Posted on:

Folk-punks Mischief Brew are rolling into Morgan’s Pier tonight for R5’s free concert series. The group has been fighting the power with their tunes of anarchy and the workingman’s struggles since the early aughts. You’ll more likely find frontman Erik Petersen performing solo and taking on the battle with simply his guitar and words these days so this evening will be a good opportunity to hear some of your favorite songs of rebellion on full blast. You’ll also receive an extra charge of energy when post-punk trio The Bad Doctors kick off the festivities with their cure for these heat-wave blues. So grab a cold drink and get over the hump of this workweek! Morgan’s Pier, 221 N. Columbus Ave., 9pm, Free, 21+ – Alexis V.

Rixon Jams the Night Away This Friday, 7/19/13 @ Dizzy Rooster, 8:30pm

Posted on:

Rixon is a rock/jam band from Austin on a mission to be "the best band on the planet.” With the kind of credentials these bandmates have, they are well on their way to accomplishing that goal. Each of Rixon’s five band members have studied at the renowned Berklee College of Music, and it shows. Their seamless blend of rock, pop and jazz is unique and catchy, while their technical skills are flawless.

Dan Rixon, lead singer/guitarist and the band’s namesake, has injected his love for the Dave Matthews Band, the Beatles, and Pink Floyd in their debut album When Morning Comes. Rixon’s hauntingly melodic voice, the band’s natural rhythms, and the overall tight instrumentation create a symphonic journey through their music’s psychedelic tendencies. See Rixon play live, this Friday at Dizzy Rooster, 8:30pm. –Written by Faith Braverman
