Bright, airy and full of emotion, Grace Weber’s latest album "Hope and Heart" encompasses both sentiments beautifully. Since its September release, Weber has received a significant amount of press, including being listed as Billboard’s “Artist To Watch” and holding tight to a top ten spot on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts. Her video for “Everything to Me” (streaming below) appeared on the AOL music homepage, showcasing the soul of this talented songstress. After headlining The Deli’s NYC B.E.A.F. Songwriters stage tonight (schedule in the post above), Grace Weber will be heading to the UK in June for a few dates in London. – CM

New Music Venue/Beer Garden/Restaurant Morgan’s Pier to Open This Memorial Day Weekend
Looks like Four Corners Management is continuing its takeover of the Philly music scene. The crew, who is partly responsible for Union Transfer, resurrecting Ortlieb’s and is working on bringing a much-needed music venue to South Philly with Boot & Saddle, is now opening another new music venue as well as a beer garden and restaurant named Morgan’s Pier (221 N. Columbus Blvd. on the riverfront where Rock Lobster used to stand). They’ll once again be teaming up with R5 Productions and Bowery Presents, and has also added Making Time’s Dave Pianka to the equation. Dave P will be responsible for curating the lineup of international and local DJs, and R5 will be booking the free Saturday afternoon concert series (which will kick off June 9 with Bleeding Rainbow). The restaurant’s menu has been created by Mémé’s David Katz, who has also invited Michael Solomonov (Zahav, Percy Street Barbecue and Federal Donuts), Terrence Feury (Fork), Top Chef Kevin Sbraga (Sbraga) and other renown chefs to BBQ this summer (with all items priced under $10). You’ll get to top off your meal and beat the heat with some tasty Little Baby’s Ice Cream. The grand opening will be this Memorial Day Weekend, and you can check out more deets about Morgan’s Pier from their press release HERE.
How to Dress Well
Tom Krell (aka How To Dress Well) has released a new track today called "Ocean Floor For Everything". The track comes from his forthcoming album Total Loss which will be released by Acéphale this Fall. If this beautiful track is a sign of what is to come it is going to be a chilly and lovely Fall.
Blue Dream “The Rebel”
Every so often I start feeling nostalgic and miss those days of piling into the local VFW or friends basement and witness indie rock at its most basic. I feel that sense of nostalgia when I listen to Blue Dream. This young band plays psych rock and blues, and recently released a new single called "The Rebel".
You can catch Blue Dream playing an all ages show at Reggies Rock Club on July 1st.
NYC Band to watch: Wailing Storms – live at Legion on 06.03
What started off as a solo project for visual artist Justin Storms in Texas, "Wailin Storms" has evolved into a four piece punk blues band that has played everywhere from London to Baltimore and is now raising the rock’n’roll dead here in Brooklyn. Storms recently teamed up with members from local heavy folk band "Such Hounds" and digitally released a 4 song EP called "Bone Colored Moon." The noises that they’ve stirred up are gritty, sparse, eerie, and sometimes punk but it still sounds as genuine as a blind bluesman. Upcoming shows: @ Legion, Brooklyn 6/3, Northside Festival, Charleston, Brooklyn 6/14. – (as posted in The Deli’s Open Blog – post your band’s entries, videos, and Mp3s here). The Deli’s NYC Open Blog is powered by The Music Building.
Spacecamp releases video of single “Miko D.T.B.”
If you think about it, it’s rather mind blowing how these days almost any promising emerging band can get a truly outstanding video made for somewhere between zero and a few thousand dollars. Until a few years ago, a video like this one by NYC retro-pop quartet Spacecamp of their single "Miko D.T.B." would have cost a fortune… kudos to director Philip Di Fiore who, according to IFC.com, "gives the piece a timeless feeling combining a love for old Blue Note record covers with magnificent manipulations of light and perspective."
NYC bands on the rise: Foxygen signs to Jagjaguwar
Sometimes we get these press releases in the mail saying that a band we’ve never heard of just signed with a super cool label, and we look at each other (as if we were more than one) with a puzzled expression: "who the heck are these guys?". Today "these guys" are two zany guys involved in lo-fi psych-folk duo Foxygen, based 50% in Astoria, NYC and 50% in Olympia, WA, who recently signed to Jagjaguwar. Following a very non-chalant musical recipe which seems to phagocytize any musical influence every imagined since 1957, these guys’ songs certainly don’t lack in character. Think of it as a hipster, but also somewhat retro, version of They Might Be Giant. Fun!

Violens released “True” at Le Poisson Rouge + tours Japan
An old Deli NYC favorite, Violens released their new album "True" with a very emphatic set last Wednesday at Le Poisson Rogue. The band, fronted by former Lansing-Dreiden art collective member Jorge Elbrecht, filled the audience’s need for both the angular and the melodic sides of the musical spectrum. The new material betrays and enhances the band’s fascination with the dream-pop sounds of the 80s, where a tight and square rhythm section gets glossed over with soaring didactic vocals and clean, fluid guitars. With the band now touring to Japan in promotion of their new LPlet’s hope they return to NYC soon this year. -Simon Heggie
Last Minute Show Announcement: Henry Wolfe (LA), Bryan Murphy (The Shills), Into the Alpha, Streight Angular — TOMORROW, 5/23, @ Great Scott
There is a last minute show tomorrow night, Wed. 5/23, at Great Scott with Bryan Murphy (The Shills), Henry Wolfe, Into the Alpha (new project from the singer of Gentleman Hall) and Streight Angular. The show is $7, 21+ and starts at 9 pm.
After playing to a packed house at TT The Bear’s in January, “ultracharming” songwriter Henry Wolfe returns to Boston this month to perform songs from his recent debut LP, Linda Vista, and preview new material. Produced by Nico Aglietti and Aaron Older of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros fame, Linda Vista has beguiled critics from Rolling Stone (3.5 stars) American Songwriter, and Nylon and led the LA Times to dub Wolfe a “face to watch” in 2011. Recently his song “Someone Else” was featured in the ATO Pictures film Terri starring John C. Reilly. –The Deli Staff
