From The Deli’s NYC Open Blog: Dillian’s new video

Posted on:

Check out this video (but mostly the song) by solo "experimenter" Dilian, who claims to be a "human who makes and records and plays music," employing "different sound making devices and mathematical equations" resulting "in a variety of shapes and sounds that can be enjoyed by people of all sizes". Whether this is true or not, we are really enjoying this dark electro-goth-shoegazer number… This is the Sister Mantos remix of the song "Barricades" – (as posted in The Deli’s Open Blog – post your band’s entries, videos, and Mp3s here). The Icarus Line Release New Album on August

Posted on:

Music is a visceral thing. Making music is no different. “This record did not just make itself and get into your hands by accident today. It was written, produced, and recorded under the constant threat of extinction,” says Joe Cardamone, of The Icarus Line, on their upcoming album "Wildlife". Out August 30th on Cobraside Distribution/ Roar Scratch Records, the LP is a collection of songs that perfectly capture the raw feelings that pure rock n’ roll music is supposed to emote. The album features guest appearances from Annie Hardy, of fellow LA rock outfit Giant Drag, and Ariel Pink to add to it’s coolness factor. Cardamone calls it, “a fight to survive in a musical landscape dominated by frat boys in ships clothing.” Sounds intriguing. The Icarus Line will be announcing a US tour very soon, which will definitely include some LA dates. We’ll keep you posted. – Taylor Lampela

Q&A with the Deli’s Band of the Month, Il Abanico

Posted on:

How did the band start?

We met last year while studying music in Boston. The strange thing is that we are from Colombia, and both of us live 5 blocks from each other in Boston, and also in Bogotá (Colombia). Then, the rest of the band Ale Giuliani (Argentina), Sayuri Shimada (Japan) and Miguel Arroyo (Peru) started to play with us making the band what it is now.

Where did the band name Il Abanico come from?…

June 29: Jump Into the Gospel end Pianos Residency + wear 3d glasses

Posted on:

Get spiritual, holy, and divine with Jump Into the Gospel as they mark the end of their month long Pianos residency on June 29. And if you prefer breasts (women’s breasts to be precise) to indie rock or if you dig both equally, you should be aware then that the free show is co-hosted by photographer Henry Hargreaves’s book 3DD: "A Celebration of Breasts" (in 3D!) – now that’s not very holy, is it? The band is getting some deserved attention lately so this is a good opportunity to check them out.

Finding Fiction releases free record in July

Posted on:

It’s indeed a perfect time for Brooklyn-based Finding Fiction to release a new record – which by the way will be free like these sunny days: “Migraines and Sheep” (scheduled for July) is an album pertinent to the season of rooftop parties, "chillaxing" on the beach, and bbq-ing with friends: it dances with upbeat percussion, bleats with dreamy keys and guitars, and comforts with its chilled out melodies and vocals. Check out the title-track single embedded here, and also the song “Weathermen”, which rings out with clunky drum sounds, and bleeps and whirrs in intricate ways like some sort of industrial-pop tune. Check out the band’s website for updates about the album release and upcoming shows. – Lauren Piper
