Static KIll — S/T

Static Kill
Static Kill
From: Naugatuck, CT

Connecticut’s Static Kill offer a serviceable brand of nü-metal. Crunchy verses were built for the mosh pit while the choruses spotlight their sensitive side. These tracks are tailor-made for hard rock FM radio. These lads will find their way above the fray of amateur hard rock bands that glut the bars and clubs of New England.

Spanish Prisoners about to release CD + play Pianos on June 3

Posted on:

Faithful to their name, Brooklyn based Spanish Prisoners in their sophomore, upcoming album "Gold Fools" play with the concepts of false identity and deception, guiding the listener through a trip between realism and surrealism, filled with evocative feelings of nostalgia and euphoria. The nine-track work, produced by the band’s guitarist Leo Maymind and multi-instrumentalist/drummer Michael DiSanto at their home in Bushwick, opens up with ethereal vocals and a steady drum beat in "Los Angeles Guitar Dream", and lingers throughout with a lazy and hazy attitude that already makes sense in this anticipated NYC summer. The band’s sound, flirting with ambient music and even lounge pop, synthesizes various influences in a rather unique psych pop package. – Madison Silvers

Prayers For Atheists — New Hymns For An Old War

Prayers For Atheists
New Hymns For An Old War
From: Providence, RI

Prayers For Atheists’ New Hymns For An Old War is a blazing hardcore record with all the ingredients of a classic—songs about the mosh pit, anthems about the bonds of friendship, shout-outs to their home town, and most importantly manifestos on changing the world. Most of the tracks are played at break-neck speed with mosh-ready breakdowns with vocals that split the difference between screaming and singing (while never degenerating into the cheap thrills of screamo). What sets PFA apart from standard hardcore fare is their relentless positivity and an almost hip-hop groove. I was inspired enough to invest $20 in the deluxe release, complete with CD, digital download, T-shirt, bumper sticker, and patch.

Dante vs Zombies start June residency at The Echo

Posted on:

Starting their reign of terror in the Indie music scene in September 2009, in that sliver of time, Dante vs Zombies have become surreal outlaws of the live “Sing-n-Dance-along” show by their own admission.  Their first release, "Yes I’m Stalking You/Branded By Nuns" 7" now out on Albino Crow, sounds like a trippy, psychotic journey into a Roger Corman romp fest. Fun? Indeed. Groovy? For sure! These cats know how to live it up and surely their residency on Monday nights at the Echo in June will get your blood boiling and your bum shaking.  9pm/21+/FREE
