Catch the easy pop stylings of Keeley Bumford and Kailynn West who have been compared to Tegan & Sara, and are riding a wave of indie success. The Deli Magazine is pleased to announce the premiere of their brand new video "Paint the Town". These ladies of the scene have been together since 2008 and are going strong. Catch them while you can!
Which One’s Pink @ Seaholm 5/28
Saturday, May 28th, Seaholm Power Plant will be given over to Which One’s Pink, a recreation of a Pink Floyd concert experience in a venue that seems to have been created specifically for such an event…pigs may fly! Walls may tumble! All we can say for certain is that some phenomenal local music talent is pitching in to help make it happen — including some surprise vocalists. There won’t be many more chances to catch an event at Seaholm, and there won’t be any more chances to catch one like this. As a fairly serious recovering Floyd geek, I’m a little excited.
Kindercastle teaser from new LP
Fans of Kindercastle‘s dorky rock candy can all let forth a collective exclamation of delight. After a lengthy hiatus, the band is releasing LP number b at Mercy Lounge May 27. Listen to the teaser, "D’s All Round," here. Can we get a hallelujah?
From the Open Blog: Fiona Silver
Like so many New Yorkers, Austin was a place I had heard of but never gave much thought to. I came here on tour with Fifth Nation, for SXSW, and was completely blown away. Every hipster across the country (or world) thinks NYC is the place to be- and maybe I’m just jaded because it’s my hometown, but I had to get out and meet some people that were more concerned with what they create than how they look on party blogs. Here in Austin, I found exactly what I was looking for: inspiration. The genre of music I create doesn’t fall into the category of Folk, and will not be what you think of when you hear the words “singer songwriter.” What I do is ukulele soul, but there’s no category for that… Check out the best new underground party in Austin, Monday nights at Beauty Bar from 10pm-2am, sponsored by Magic Hat. I will be performing every Monday in May (or at least for the next 3 weeks) before I return back east. Check my website www.fionasilver.com for updates, and more info.

NYC bands against cancer benefit tomorrow at Southpaw – Lifted Crew, Bottom Dollars, Flearoy, The Times
Park Slope’s premium venue Southpaw will host a "Rock Against Cancer" show on Thursday May 12 involving a rather eclectic mix of local artists. Celebrated Funk/Hip Hop group The Lifted Crew (pictured) are headlining this event. Amongst the openers, The Bottom Dollars (who recently released their debut album The Halcyon Days) will bring to the stage a cornucopia of lush vocal harmonies and classically familiar rock and soul, while Flearoy will offer their uplifting blend of folk, funk and jazz. We will cover opener band The Times as soon as they will change their band name to something a little more "Google-able". The concert will also include a raffle featuring autographed sports items, bar tabs and gift certificates to local restaurants. The show will donate the proceeds to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Team in Training. Tickets can be purchased here.
