Snow and Voices releases “I Am A Storm” remix

Posted on:

Snow and Voices

Snow and Voices, the celestial electronic pop duo produced by Michael Patterson, has released an interesting remix of their song "I Am A Storm" — a sped up androgynous, trancy electro version of the original single. The sound strays from that of the rest of their 11 track LP, "Anything That Moves", where the haunting vocals of Lauri Kranz accompanied by the heart-wrenching instrumentals of Jebin Bruni provide the listener with a dreary, ethereal ambiance. This track is definitely danceable, the type of mix heard at an underground rave, perfect for those who have grown tired of the resonating one-liners of Lady Gaga. Download the remix here, and listen to their full-length album here.

The band will be heading out again on a national tour with Delta Spirit beginning November 15th. Although DML won’t be coming back this way until their Dec. 8th show at the Music Box, you can check out their video for "Backseat" shot live.

Chris Garneau releases new video and sophomore album

Posted on:

We’ve always been fans of Chris Garneau‘s sparse, mellow and theatrical songwriting. The half mechanical, half poetic world of marionettes fits perfectly Chris’ songwriting style, based on plodding piano parts, ticking percussions, string driven openings, and his unmistakable vocal style. A crew of 30 worked on this video, including director Ryan Gibeau and Michael Leach, arguably NYC’s most skilled and experienced marionette puppeteer, who handled the main puppet through the videos many challenges.

The Renaissance Rodeo

Remember your roots and mark Nov. 19 down for a rowdy good time at 3rd and Lindsley. Some of Nashville’s finest folk, soul and Americana artists will be working their pedal steels and shaking their tambourines with renowned producer/singer/songwriter Jack Clement, as well as a few others from the outer reaches of Tennessee, like roots-rockers Scott Miller and RB Morris. This American variety show will also include the bluesy licks of Sam Lewis, soulful voice of Jonell Mosser, saloon jukebox songs of Derek Hoke and Eric Brace & Peter Cooper, and rambling, gypsy style of Jacob Jones. Plan to drink and dance. – Deli Editor

Gross Relations get wasted on camera + release video and 7″

Posted on:

I can SO visualize the day when the Gross Relations crew sat down at a pub to discuss ideas about their upcoming music video and somebody came up with this: "Dudes, I have an idea: we should just shoot a video about what we are doing right now! A video of us, our own faces, gulping down whiskey and getting progressively wasted, that’s gonna rule!". As a matter of fact the concept works well not only with the song’s title (Fuzzy Timelines) but also with the band’s lo-fi crooked musical aesthetics. Gross Relations is about to release a 7" of this song, pre-order it at Insound here.

NYC Artists on the rise: Lucius, live at Brooklyn Bowl Tonight

Posted on:

With a name more appropriate for a Roman general, Lucius is actually the project of peaceful and talented songstresses Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, of Bostonian origins. Their delicate voices draw gentle harmonized lullabies accompanied by sparse arrangements of acoustic guitars and occasional piano and simple percussions. The duo has just completed an east coast tour synchronized with a residency at Rockwood Music Hall, and will perform tonight (11.09) at Brooklyn Bowl within the MVFilmFest (see blog entry underneath this one).

Dave Hartley’s solo project Nightlands releases Forget the Mantra on vinyl today via Secretly Canadian! Keep snatching up our artists, record labels. We love it! It’s nice to see our man who keeps it tight on the low-end for one of our faves The War on Drugs getting his time in the spotlight. Building hypnotic soundscapes with collages of sampled conversations, glorious beats, delicately layered computer generated sounds, and angelic choir-like vocals, Hartley creates an experimental album that you can easily lose yourself in. Still refusing to dust off that old record player? What’s wrong with you? Lucky Forget the Mantra is digitally available here for a super reasonable five bucks! Just grab your copy already and crank it up to eleven with that special nug you’ve been saving. – The Deli Staff

“Philly Sings Philly” Is Back w/Hezekiah Jones at The Fire Nov. 9

Posted on:

Back with the second installment of “Philly Sings Philly”, one of our absolute favorite folk artists Hezekiah Jones, a.k.a. Raph Cutrufello, will be headlining this evening. Now, I’m one of those people who’d rather hear only Cutrufello’s originals, but I’m sure it’ll be interesting to hear which local acts have touched him to the core. He has plenty of material to be inspired by from his many door duty nights at The Fire. And I’m guessing there will be a number of Hezekiah Jones covers and other local favorites tonight from buddies Suzie Brown, Marc Silver, Mason Porter and many more. The Fire, 412 W.
